May Coffee Specials

We are listing our Mocha Java Blend as our May Coffee of the Month.  We truly LOVE this blend!   As our 5th bestseller overall and our 2nd best selling fresh roasted coffee a LOT of you must like it too!  I don’t think we go more than a few days without a bag of Mocha Java in our coffee basket on our counter in our kitchen!  Drip brewed, Vacuum brewed or through our Saeco Easy Super Auto Espresso Machine it’s great anyway you want to brew it!

Mocha Java Blend

Fresh Roasted Coffee Beans

Old World Mocha Java Blend

1 Pound Fresh Roasted Coffee Beans

The original blend! Mocha is, in fact, the port city where Yemeni beans were loaded into wooden hulled sailing ships manned by low land sailors coming from the island of Java, hence Mocha-Java blend. This is a must try coffee, the funky earth tones of the Yemen Mocha do nothing but compliment the bright clean crisp Java. I recommend this blend to all coffee lovers and no this is not a flavored coffee. Give it a try and you will see why the Worlds Oldest coffee blend is such a huge part of the modern coffee world.

This blend is 50/50 Yemen Mocca and Java Estate.

This is the “Old World” blend. We do not use the cheaper Ethiopian coffees that most of the “Big” national roasters use, we use the Original Yemeni coffees just like the first sailers did.

This Mocha Java Blend is also my wife Barb’s favorite!

It is also on sale in a 10 pound bag of green coffee beans and on our Wholesale store too.

SCAA Convention 2008

Saturday May 3rd

I want to apologize if this blog does not look or flow like other blogs, I am a Coffee Roaster NOT a reporter!

I had to get a picture of this roaster, the only thing similar to my current roaster is the color!  I would love to be able to fill this roaster up for 10 or 20 batches a day! but I only need a 15K roaster I think this one is a 40K or so.

Petes new roaster?

Pete standing by a HUGE Diedrich Coffee Roaster!

We walked a LOT and met alot of peolple too.  When we wanted a place to rest the US Barista Competition was the place with the chairs.

Ready to Serve

Some of the competitors had to deal with a lot of cameras too!

Media attention

The waiting and watching sensory judges.

Grinding and dosing for a shot of espresso.

We are going to the 2008 SCAA Convention in Minneapolis!

Here is a link to the Specialty Coffee Association of Americas Convention Official Site

We will be attending the convention May 2nd through May 4th.  Watch this section of our site for live updates from the floor of the show! Or at least nightly updates, I am not a reporter!

We had a great day at the convention!  Got some new business contacts, and met a few established contacts for the first time!   We could not take any video of the show.  I did take a few photos today but I do not have the photo editing software on my laptop to get the pictures to a smaller size for the site, sorry.

Sunday Morning:

I am finding out my new sites blogging abilities and I do not need my expensive photo editing software for this!

Yama Vacuum Coffee Brewers

We have had an increase in Yama Vacuum Brewer sales the past couple of weeks and we are currently out of both the 5 cup and 8 cup stove top models.  The 5 cup model will be back in stock by Friday April 25th or early next week.  The 8 cup model will not be here until May 9th.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Larger Coffee Roaster

I am starting to seriously look for a larger roaster!  I am finding that during almost every roasting session I have 3 or 4 repeat batches of the same coffee now.  Sometimes with large orders it is 10 or more batches of the same coffee!  I have put this off for a while now but I soon will have to get a larger roaster.

In the meantime have no worries about consistency, I am the Owner and Roastmaster of Our Coffee Barn.  Not just Roastmaster but the only one roasting for us at all and I have been roasting now for  5 years on my current Diedrich IR3.  With this roaster and the same sized batch of coffee an exact match of the previous roast is VERY easy to do.

We lowered our roasted coffee prices to see if the roasted sales would increase and you (over 5000 registered customers!) have proven to us that good honest customer service and the freshest roasted coffee available, roasted to it’s “perfect point” of roasting along with a very reasonable price keeps customers coming back!

Ethiopia Limu Gera Special Prep

Fresh Roasted Coffee Beans

Ethiopia Limu Gera Special Prep

1 Pound Fresh Roasted Coffee Beans

This is our latest new origin from Ethiopia! Limu is a region in the district of Gera in southwestern Ethiopia.

This Limu cups similar to a Yergacheffe but to me it had deeper chocolaty undertones similar to a Harrar. I have personaly added this coffee to my list of coffees I try to have in my kitchen for my everyday coffee, yes, a coffee roaster brews coffee every morning at home just like most of you!

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. The regal coffees from this country are deserving of such a heritage and stand up to the calling. Referring to Ethiopia as a country of single origin, however, is misleading. Coffees from the different growing regions vary so incredibly that they do not even seem to be from the same planet! Ethiopian Yergacheffes are amazing and unique coffees. Yergacheffe is a town in the Sidamo region of Ethiopia, and the coffees from this region will surprise you with their floral and tangerine notes. In a stellar Yergacheffe, even the grounds have an exotic tropical toasted coconut aroma that will knock you over with its charms. Sometimes Coffee Joe’s will try to compare Yergacheffes to other coffees, such as a bright Central American or an exciting Kenyan, just south of the border from Ethiopia, but there truly is not a real comparison.

Coffee Specials for April

I have been a little slow in getting new pages posted here as well as not getting a monthly newsletter Emailed to all of our customers.  Raising 4 kids, running a growing business out of our home, roasting coffee 3 times a week as well as me working as a carpenter during the day doesn’t leave much time for website work!

I picked up a “new yergacheffe” when Cafe Imports ran out of the Ethiopia Yergacheffe I usually bought. I brought a sample to a new coffee shop in Amery WI called Bugga’s Bistro and her customers LOVE IT!  It is now a standard coffee that she orders!

OK, enough about how we got the coffee here is the link and description from our sites retail “estore”.
